I was brought to the Emergency Department at QMC earlier this week via ambulance after an incident with a dog. The paramedics were absolutely amazing; I was in a lot of pain and also in shock, and the team of three calmed me down and explained everything to me so that I knew what was happening. Upon arrival at A & E, I was taken to a cubicle where I waited to see a nurse - as I was alone, a member of the paramedic team stayed with me until the nurse arrived, which I was extremely grateful for as I was still in shock. When the nurse arrived, they showed me to the waiting area and explained that I would have to wait to be seen by another nurse so that my wounds could be inspected. After a wait of only about an hour, I was seen by a different nurse who was extremely kind and examined my wounds, before sending me to have my arm x-rayed as a precaution. After a very short wait, my arm was x-rayed and I was sent back to wait in A & E; again, I only had a short wait of about 10 minutes before a different nurse called for me. This nurse cleaned and bandaged my wounds and was very good at keeping me distracted by talking to me while they did so. All in all, I was only in A & E for about 3 and a half hours and the service I received was very efficient and professional, not to mention extremely thoughtful (I was very shaken up by the incident and everyone was extremely considerate). I went back two days later to receive stitches in my wounds and the nurse who performed this was amazing, talking to me while they did everything and making me feel very at ease. I was very impressed by the service I received from both the paramedics and this emergency department, and would like to thank the members of staff who treated me.
