"Contacting the 111 service"

About: Harmoni / NHS 111

(as a carer),

My wife suffered a hyper, she is type 2 diabetic. Called 111 and went through her symptoms and they agreed that an ambulance would be sent out to her. Waited for this to arrive then another phone call received to say that no ambulance will be coming. I again went through the symptoms with the caller who then decided that an ambulance would be sent. When this arrived her blood sugar level was 2. 3.

My beef is that why was it necessary from someone else to ring after it was agreed that an ambulance was required nothing had changed and indeed the longer the delay the worse my wife's condition was getting.

I know the service is under pressure but once you are told the service is to be provided I expect it to be provided not go through another hoop of explanations.

We do not call this service lightly indeed it is the only time we have used it but I was left frustrated by the unnecessary delay which could have had serious repercussions.
