I just wanted to say what wonderful treatment I received in the day surgery unit today. I was in for minor gynae surgery and was made to feel really welcome from the minute I arrived. Was given a bed swiftly so I could relax before I was taken to theatre. I arrived at 7.30 and was ready to go home by 1. My consultant was lovely and caring and made me feel at ease when they came to introduce themselves, as did the anesthetist. The nurses looking after everyone in the ward were wonderful, too. I was nervous as I was taken down to theatre but barely felt the needle in the back of my hand and everyone made me feel really calm. Next thing I knew I was being woken up by a lovely person with a smile on their face, which was a nice thing to come round to! I was given some food and checked over before I was told I was okay to leave, but not once did I feel rushed or as though I was in the way. I was very scared before being admitted to hospital but am home now and roughly 6 hours after coming round I feel absolutely fine. Thank you, Southend, for making an op, which is not a particularly nice experience, as pleasant as possible. Really appreciate all your hard work.
