"Visiting the practice"

About: Clydach Health Centre

(as the patient),

I use the practice regularly due to a number of reasons and have found that since the change of location and the new set up has come in to play the service seems to be a lot better.

There is now an electronic check in system that is speedy and easy to use. It is a touch screen multiple option system where by it asks us to select if we are 'male' or 'female' as well as our 'age-range' and 'date of birth' which is selected firstly by month secondly by the day of the month. I have seen many people of many many ages using this and it does make the whole check-in process a lot quicker.

Telephoning on the day from opening at 8am can gain you an appointment on the same day. The line is often busy 1st thing but if you are persistent you can usually get through to them. They don't generally allocate appointments by just walking in and when/if they do it is usually later on in the day due to the people telephoning in receiving the bulk of AM appointments.

Generally the practice is good and the reception staff are on hand should you find the new electronic check-in slightly difficult.

From my experience I feel that the GP's (some being new) can vary in friendliness as well as how much I feel they actually want to listen to what you have to say to ensure a quality outcome. I have on a number of occasions (3 times in 1 week previously) been to see a GP for the same issue and been sent away with nothing other than a dent in my confidence. However, there are a number of GP's there who work over and beyond their job-role and really make you feel at ease, knowing you are in good hands. I opt to ask for one of these GP's when I call in and usually I can get so see one out of my chosen few.
