About: Tameside General Hospital

My partner arrived at Tameside Hospital this morning at 6am. he was told by the triage nurse that the wait was one and a half hours.. after sitting there for 2 hours he asked again how long it would be, he has just been told that the wait is 3 hours from when you arrive!! while he has been sat there there has been one patient seen to... how can you predict that it will take 3 hours when the place isnt even busy? Are the Doctors in bed still??? i myself visited Salford Royal A&E at 6am last year and was seen to within 15 minutes!!

Are they stating 3 hours so it doesnt breach the 4 hours???

We apologise for your waiting time within the department.

On this occasion it appears that the waiting time was not communicated to you in a timely manner and I will remind staff of the importance of informing patients of the waiting times at regular intervals and especially at times of increased demand in the department.

There are many areas within the emergency department with patients arriving by ambulance. It may appear that only one patient is being seen however other patients may have been triaged to a higher priority and require emergency care sooner.

Regular updates should have been given regarding waiting times and department activity and for this we apologise.
