The care and attention from surgeon, anaesthetist and nursing staff was thorough, kind and helpful throughout the long wait.
The admissions lounge was comfortable. The waiting room for surgery doubled as a foot clinic.
I arrived early in the morning, fasting as requested. Finally 9 hours later, one of the nursing staff apologised and told me that owing to an emergency surgery my minor operation could not be done that day after all. I was brought tea and a sandwich and the hospital ordered and paid for a taxi to get me home, as I find walking difficult. This was very kind and thoughtful.
However I would like to know why I wasn't cancelled much earlier, or at least told I would only be fitted in if there was time at the end. Then I could have eaten and drunk till noon, which would have been helpful given my medical history. But my thanks to everyone's kindness during my day at the hospital.
