I was taken in as an emergency by ambulance. Things went very well until blood had to be taken. The nurse did not appear to know how to get blood from me.
she tried in 2 places on the back of my right hand and failed, she then tried again on the lower inside of my right arm and failed....she then went to my right hand and again failed....I was bruised on the back on both my hands and was bleeding from my right arm on to my T-shirt, she made no attempt to stop the bleeding by taping pads over the needle sites, the bruising was extensive at all sites she attempted to take blood.
Another nurse appeared and saw she was having difficulties and made the suggestion that the doctor helped. The doctor went straight to the usual place to take blood, the inside of the elbow and blood was taken with no further bruising to me.
The rest of the time I was at A&E was good. as was my eventual transfer to a ward.
