"Instant cure at Frimley Park Hospital"

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley) Royal Surrey County Hospital

(as the patient),

For 6 years I have been making six monthly visits to The Royal Surrey Hospital for my dupuytrens disease in my right hand which has been steadily contracting, thereby thwarting my ability to continue my work. (I`m a painter and ceramicist). I never saw the consultant, only his minion. I would be monitored with the understanding that, once the contraction reached an optimum angle I would be subjected to an incredibly delicate, operation, lasting several hours, which then necessitate my returning to undergo regular, post-operative, physiotherapy.

I recently learned that, due to the patients` charter, I am now allowed to elect a hospital of my choice. After much research and quizzing medical chums, I learned that Miss Anne Ashbrooke, who is a consultant at Frimley Park Hospital, came up trumps for my condition. My GP willingly organised my referral and I attended an out-patient appointment. Not only did I actually see Anne Ashbrooke herself, she explained my condition to me, fully, which no-one has ever done. She also offered to carry out a tiny, key-hole procedure, there and then. Eureka! For the first time in 6 years I now have a straight hand and it`s not even necessary for me to subject myself to travelling to physiotherapy sessions, let alone flog all that way for six-monthly check-ups. However, I am being decidedly disciplined in regularly stretching the hand and fingers, as suggested by her.

10 out of 10, therefore, to Miss Anne Asbrooke.
