I have used St Mary's Hospital maternity services twice now and have had positive experiences of the care both times. I thought all the midwives, assistants, medical staff in theatre etc all worked together well. The only exception was the way I had to order food, then as I had to move wards twice (induction to delivery to postnatal), this order was 'lost', with each ward saying it was the other one's responsibility to get it to you in this scenario. However individual staff did chase this for me or get me replacements/ snacks.
I found all midwives very good, especially one on CDU who noticed a 'hard to spot' third degree tear, and another on Postnatal ward, who, despite the ward being extremely busy and with higher risk patients than me, was happy to answer all questions, explain thoroughly etc, and did not make me feel like I was a nuisance. I could hear they were then exactly the same with the next woman, and the next.
I also found the Early Pregnancy Unit and Triage / Assessment Unit excellent when I visited there several times.
