I am Type 1 Diabetic and overall have received excellent care from both Doncaster Royal Infirmary and my local GP. If I have any criticism it is over the fact that I am confused as to who is responsible for my care, DRI or my GP. I go to DRI for tests and then my GP seems to duplicate these tests, which I feel is a waste of time and resources. At one point my local GP had me listed as Type 2 diabetic whilst the hospital has assured me I am Type 1 (I am on Glargine and Novarapid). This was extremely concerning at the time and I would feel much more confident about the care I receive if DRI dealt with everything to do with my Diabetes because there I see the same people time and time again and I am confident they understand my history. At my GP's surgery, I never see the same person twice and they all seem to have different opinions which is very concerning.
