"Told me i had had a miscarriage when I haden't"

I am actually registered with a hospital in London but my family lives in Wigan and during my first trimester, I had some bleeding when I was up visiting my parents. This is my first pregnancy, it was at 10pm and seeing as this happened in the first trimester, I went straight to A&E and possibly had one of the most horrific evenings!

I was made to wait for 2 hours before I was actually seen by the registrar in the maternity unit

When I finally went up to see the registrar they said they needed to do a cervical exam on me to see if my cervix was open and if that was the case then it is likely I will miscarry. They did a cervical examination and concluded that based on the clots, I was not at risk of miscarriage, but I had already miscarried. When we asked if they were absolutely certain they replied with yes I am certain. I argued with them that the bleeding was not heavy and I am not in any pain at all so were they sure and can they not do a scan to double check. The response was "I am sorry but you have miscarried".

Safe to say my husband and myself were in a state after being told this.

They then offered me some sort of drug to help with the clearing out of my womb and thank god I said no because after a weekend of absolute hell for myself and my whole family, I came back to London and contacted the hospital I was registered with for my pregnancy and they said I needed to come in for a scan to check my womb is clean.

I went in for a scan only to be told that I am still pregnant and they showed me that the foetus was still there and there is a healthy heartbeat.

I am now 8 months into a healthy pregnancy.

How can a registrar can tell a couple they have 100% had a miscarriage based on discharge and clots without doing a scan to check? It's appalling.

Then to offer me drugs to clear out my womb that could have actually resulted in my pregnancy being put at risk.
