I was admitted from the 18.11.09 and discharged myself 28.11.09.
From day one I've not been impressed what so ever. The respect for patients problems doesn't exist. Its shouted for everyone else to hear. You never want to press your buzzer for fear of getting a black look from a nursing assistant. As for the general doctors that come round, they're about as good a chocolate fireguard. I don't see the point in having that ward personally. Well not with my medical history anyway. It's a 72hr ward, I was on there for 10 days, and then they finally decide to move me to another ward. First off the other ward doesn't have Tv's, secondly my consultant said it wouldn't be a good idea to move me, as a move may end up adding to my already bad health. But to no avail the move still had to go ahead. So I discharged myself.
The problem here is that the nurses tone of voice was so sharp. She didnt even bother to close the curtain and explain quietly why it was happening. So everyone in the bay was left to laugh at our expense. This was un called for as it made us feel small. Lets just say, the bloke in charge of the ward had already been on a rampage a few days prior to this. He was not impressed with how the staff were.
"Alexandra Short Ward stay is Appalling."
