"It lets me be myself"

About: Arnold Lodge Regional Secure Unit

(as the patient),

I find the lgbtQ group a very supported group. It lets me be myself and to mix with my peers. With the same or different gender. My brother and niece are going through trans gender and I find the group helps me to understand what they are going through. When I came out to my family they were really supported of me. I only wish my partner was still alive so we could be together forever.

Thank you very much for the comments you have made about the LGBTQ group, it is clearly a very important issue both for you and for your family. It is great to hear that you find the group supportive for you as a person and it is a place where you can mix with other people of different gender who have similar interests in LGBTQ issues. This is so nice to hear and what we hoped the group would become. We aim to be as inclusive as we can be in the group. We will ensure that we continue to have an interesting mix of LGBTQ themed films, news and current affairs in our programme for the future.
