"importance of wig service"

About: St Bartholomew's Hospital

(as a staff member),

I am a doctor but also a cancer patient (male) so have experience of hair loss from both sides. Mine was very temporary but made me feel very self conscious for several months.. I did not use a wig service - none was offered but even it was I think I would have "toughed it out". As a doctor I rarely hear in depth about the feelings of my patients who have experienced hair loss so this story is important because it helps me appreciate the difference between wig services provided by the NHS and by the beauty industry.
