"Best thing I did for my own good"
Posted by feelinggood (as ),
I had a bad accident a while ago and since then I’ve had lots of surgery on my leg. I walk with a frame and in my house I have a trolley from social work both upstairs and downstairs. This is a good help.
Because of this problem I was always at home looking at 4 walls, I wasn’t meeting people. My social worker suggested the day centre and I’ve now been coming for 5 years. I’m really glad I started coming and I wouldn’t stop. It’s really helped me to come out my shell.
I like it here, I like the activities. I’ve started knitting a blanket with one of the other ladies – I’ve only done 4 wee squares so far so there is lots more to do!
The district nurses also pop in to see us which means we don’t have to go to the GP surgery.
I try to encourage people to come, I wouldn’t do without it. Coming here is the best thing I did for my own good. I think it stops depression and nervous breakdowns. I’m also eating better now I’m at the centre. I think it would be really good for more people to come.
