My husband visited the minor injuries unit on 18/11/15 for a very deep cut to his finger. After a 3 hour wait the nurse applied steristrips to a wound which should have been stitched. Today 23/11/15 we had to return to the minor injuries unit as the wound had reopened. The waiting time started at 1 hour and increased to 3 hours. Although there were a few people waiting to be seen, there didn't seem to be much staff activity. Eventually more steristrips were applied as it was too late to stitch the wound. Why not do the job properly on the first visit?
I am not denying that the staff are hard working, however surely if the stitches had been applied on the first visit, the second visit would not have been needed.
"If the job had been done properly..."
