"Hospital paperwork"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital

(as the patient),

I was sent an appointment at Queen Margaret hospital with a form about my ethnicity and another asking if details are correct. No one collected them. Surely once I am recorded my ethnicity does not change. There was no one to give the corrected details to.

As no one is collecting the ethnicity information why is paper being wasted asking for it?

This is another appalling waste of paper at this hospital. Please note that until staff are appointed I cannot be treated so why was I sent for?

Dear Rosebery

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about this issue. The collection of ethnicity information is really important, as it allows us to plan services; however our Equalities Lead agrees that this does have to be collected in the most efficient way for service users. She has advised that we are currently looking at ways to improve our current processes and on that basis your feedback is very helpful. The Medical Records Manager said it would be helpful to know which clinic you attended so that she can look into the specifics, as she expects staff to gather this information. If you are able to provide this detail then please contact me directly and I will pass this on.

Thanks again for brining this to our attention.

Regards

Louise Ewing
