What I liked

Good pre-assessment proceedure and information

Waiting time for proceedure not too long

Excellent physiotherapist at the hospital

The Doctors were very good and most of the nursing staff were good

Hospital particularly clean

What could be improved

Urine bottles left for hours before being taken away

No waste paper bag so waste left on table for days

Some nurses on D5 were uncaring and would not bring me a urine bottle after several times of asking I had to call to a passing doctor.

A nursing manager came to see me about my complaint about one particularly uncaring nurse but never followed my complaint up. I do not want other patients treated so badly. All nursing sstaff need to understand that when a patient needs a urine bottle they need it now not hours later. In addition, some patients catheter bags were never emptied until they were nearly over flowing.

Patient line telephone and TV service never functioned properly and I never got the expensive service I paid for and so far no refund.

People come and take all the remaining credit from patients' phones every morning and where does that money go?? I am told by one facilities manager for the old and needy to give a free service but I never saw any sign or information to that effect.

Discharge proceedure not well organised not all information e.g. practice letter available and still not in the post 5 days later.

I had bad side effects from one pain killer this was noted by the physiotherapist who organised a different one for me which was fine but then I was sent home with a different one again and the side effects started again. I had to telephone in again to get this sorted out. Clearly communication between staff needs improving.

Anything else?

All patients should routinely have an exit questionairre and the hospital should follow up any issues that arise. I feel some problems are not properly followed through.
