I had the unfortunate need to bring my father to the emergency department on Sat 14th Nov. The staff were excellent very friendly and despite being extremely busy, they managed to keep my father and I fully informed. The consultant and their team were fantastic as usual. I could bring dad home with an appointment for vascular clinic Mon 16th Nov.
Again all staff were excellent at the clinic and very thorough completing scans and reviews, the decision was made to admit dad and despite the clinic finishing at 5pm, two members of staff stayed whilst a bed was found for my dad. They remained cheerful and although we felt guilty because we knew they should have been off duty, they made us very welcome. a bed was found on ward 5A, although not a vascular ward we were grateful for the bed.
Ward 5A was an extremely professional, well-led and friendly ward, team work was highly evident. Charge Nurse and Staff Nurse were outstanding as were all of the staff that looked after my dad.Our sincere thanks go to all involved in this episode of dads care.
The organisation should be very proud of these teams.
"ED, vascular clinic and Ward 5A."
