"No beds! operation cancalled without warning..."

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

I am not happy one bit. We have never gone to the hospital before it was my first time and it will be my last time. Had operation cancelled 22nd october to be given another letter 2 weeks later the appointment is 19th November. Day before on 21st October was told last min it wouldnt go on. My husband used his holiday up and is boss let him have 19th november off as the net appointment was then. Bare in mind 50 quid loss. We got to the hospital we live 15 miles away so it isnt just round the corner.

The letter says 7.30am. We woke up at 5am. Dropped my daughter off my mother in laws who lives 10 miles away from us crying 10 month old. My son was 2 and 10 months. To be told he cant have anything to drink or eat after 6am because of surgery which is understandable. However when we arrived at 7am. The receptionist then said take a seat in the waiting area. It was then 8.30am i told my husband to ask when is someone coming. Then to be told someone will come in. It was then 9.30am my son was screaming and crying as he had no drink by that time. Why state 7.30am on the letter if no one will come till 9.45am. It is very disorganised. Few other parents in there having to take time off work. To be told by one mother it happens all the time. Never heard of a hospital like it. We have been to burton and QMC nottingham and the appointment time is when the time starts not 2 hours later. To then be told no beds! it cant go on! Very angry dont care about petrol and car park charges and also waiting time. Explained this to be told you must ring day before the surgery! Does not state on the letter to ring before. You expect your appointment letter which you have had nearly a month to be on the day and time. No other problems with any other hospital i have been to and i have had alot of surgeries. Disgusting. PALS and my GP informed. Mortified!
