(as a relative),

My mum had to have a procedure in day surgery which was of a sensitive subject. My mum was going for investigations that could possibly lead to a cancer diagnosis and she was really scared. I tried my best to reassure her but there is only so much I can do when I'm not allowed in the deparment. My mum returned from theatre and when speaking to her nurse I was informed she was very upset/distressed! This is awful hearing this and yet still not allowed in to comfort her. All of this distress could have been avoided if the department allowed 1 relative in with them! If paediatrics can have both parents at the beside why can't day surgery? ? I'm very upset that my mum was left alone.
