TVH and BSO in 2014

(as the patient),

I elected to have a TVH and BSO in March 2014 due to painful 20 years of endometriosis and andenomysiosis. Was on lupron depot for 2 years prior. Surgery was a success at first; 8 weeks in had vaginal cuff cellulitis; treated with antibiotics. And then other problems ensued; vaginal yeast infections; lack of estrogen on ERT; low progesterone and testosterone. Not on those even though I should be. My moods are awful, high anxiety, tremors, mood swings, made worse by Ativan usage long-term. Also bruising on legs starting, only two years in. Blood tests are normal for everything, but still bruising is happening. Need specialist to help with these problems. I am very scared for my future without the right treatments. I fear heart disease as well as any other problems. I am only 37. Surgery was done in US.

Dear JHud - I was sorry to read of your concerns. In order for a referral to be made to Southmead (who provide secondary care) you will need to visit your GP (who provides primary care) who will need to organise this. Hospitals are funded for care by the local commissioning groups and so cannot therefore provide care unless "authorised" to do so by GPs who influence the allocation of budgets.

I hope the above is helpful to you and that your GP will respond to your concerns with an appropriate course of action.
