"I have been going to the NOC for ..."

About: Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre

(as the patient),

What I liked

I have been going to the NOC for about 1year and 4 months, during which I have had an operation and I am due to have another one. All of the staff do a wonderful job, I have always had say in my treatment and as I go to the paediatric out patience I have to have an adult with me, all the staff that I have seen talk to me instead of ignoring me and talking to my adult. I am very happy with the care and treatment that I receive and will continue to receive. I feel that the positive atmosphere and the staff make the ordeal of going into hospital a lot calmer and they put you at ease.

What could be improved

Waiting times after having x-rays I always seem to be missed of the list so we have to remind them even after giving in the slip saying that I have returned to the paediatric out patience although, this can be a pain I am very happy to wait because of the excellent service I receive from the health care teams.

Anything else?

Overall I think this hospital is one of the best ones that I have been to and that is quite a lot!!!

Thank you for your comments about your experience of treatment at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre – we are acutely aware that children and adolescents when attending hospital often have differing needs to those of adults. We have been working hard over the past year to continue to develop high quality, flexible and responsive healthcare that is both patient and aged centred and feedback such as yours tells us that we are heading in the right direction. We are however, sorry to hear that you often have a long time to wait for x-rays – can we suggest that you contact the PALS service (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) the next time you have an appointment and they will be happy to help. Alternatively you or your guardian/parent can telephone them on 01865 738126 Monday to Friday between 0900 and 1600. From what you say we understand that you have been to many hospitals and are also awaiting another operation and we are honoured that you took the trouble to post your comments. Please accept our very best wishes for the future.
