"Flu injections"

I have angina and was sent a letter by a Medical Practice telling me I would be invited to have the jag soon. I've heard nothing, its now November and when I phoned the practice, the receptionist was very snappy and said it would be soon. I'm feeling very anxious as we're now well into flu season, although its the same story with them every year.

I'm sorry that you have had a bad experience trying to get your 'flu injection. Once the practice has injections in stock you should be able to book an appointment to get one and do not need to wait until you are invited if you are in the group of patients for whom it is recommended. (It is recommended for patients with long term conditions such as angina, patients aged over 65 years and carers.)

I would suggest booking a nurse appointment so that you can have the injection and if you have further problems contact the health board with your details and we will follow it up on your behalf with the practice.

It is most important that everyone for whom it is recommended received the vaccination so please try again to arrange it.

the point of my post, which has not been addressed is that it's the middle of November and injections are still not in stock at Broadbay, though I believe they are in other practices.

My other point is that when I tried to talk to the practice staff, I was very rudely rebuffed. This is a very poor response via Patient Opinion. If I could book a nurse appointment, I would have done it.

Thankyou for advising us of the name of the GP practice, this has allowed our Primary Care Manager to contact the GP practice who have confirmed that they have supplies of the vaccine available.

I can only apologise on behalf of the practice for your experience whilst trying to book your appointment. GP practices are independant of the Health Board and I have been advised that should you wish to raise this as a complaint with the practice you can contact Nancy Murray who is the Practice Manager and Compaints Officer. I have emailed her to alert her to your story on Patient Opinion.
