My daughter gave birth in Darenth Valley Hospital at the end of last month.
She had wanted an epidural, as she had with her 1st child; but didn't get one; because of inefficiency/reluctance on the part of the midwives I feel.
I think the hospital shouldn't be offering mothers a choice of care and birth plans if they're not prepared to follow the care chosen by their potential mothers.
My daughter was given an induction as her baby was overdue.
Her baby had serious health concerns during her 3rd trimester so we were concerned bout the baby's health.
When I arrived at my daughter's bedside (her husband was with her throughout her induction, labour and birth) they were alone with the curtains drawn around my daughter's bed.
Nobody came to check on my daughter or the baby for 3 hours so i was concerned as my daughter's contractions were strong/frequent. When I went to ask a member of staff why nobody had checked on us, they arrogantly told me they didn't check on induced mothers for 6 HOURS!! Shame on you, Darenth Valley!!
I wonder how many babies die because of this?? You need to re-evaluate your policies if this is true, or retrain that staff member. Their arrogance and lack of care were breathtaking!
I really wouldn't want my other daughters to have a similar experience and I really hope no more mothers are left unmonitored for hours on end.
