The ward celebrated its 1st birthday since opening last week and the patients wanted to share their thanks for marking the day with a party and a magician.

The following comments were made into a display on the ward and during todays community meeting they asked if a posting could be placed on Patients Opinion to share the positive experience of life on the new ward;

Caring staff

Breath of fresh air

Going out on leave and cooking tea

Atmosphere and kindness on patients

I like the staff

Spacious, I enjoy leave and like fellow patients

Relaxing atmosphere, enjoyable

The best thing about this ward was the structured day staff

Johns happy face

Happy

Its great being able to go to Bradgate Park

The atmosphere is nice due to the politeness of staff and patients

The ward is great and gives me great hope for the future

Staff and patients are good

It has made me successful in the last year and I hope to do well in the next year

Very calm and I like the cooking

Hi All

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your positive comments about Thornton Ward as well as your appreciation of the one year birthday celebrations.

Your comments have been passed on to the staff team who were delighted to hear that their hard work has been appreciated, both in the day-to-day running of the ward as well as organising the birthday party.

The refurbishment of Thornton Ward was a long time in the planning and it's great to hear that the environment continues to work well a year after its opening. It is also good to hear that there are lots of opportunities for you to get involved in a variety of activities both on and off the ward as a result of the new way of working.

We are always keen to hear any suggestions from patients about ways that we can further improve the service that we provide so please do not hesitate to pass on your comments to any member of the clinical team or to Advocacy.
