I went to A&E on 5/11/15 with deteriorating sight and tests that day revealed a tumour on my pituitary gland. I was admitted immediately to the Acute Medical Unit where I was observed and cared for until an operation could be done by neurosurgeons on 11/11/15. I then stayed on the High Dependency Unit of the Neurosurgery department for three days before coming home.
I have nothing but praise for the staff in this hospital and would recommend it unhesitatingly to those facing similar issues to mine. Everyone I saw there was enthusiastic about their work and explained their roles to me well, even the non medical staff such as cleaning and kitchen people. They too played their part in my care and recovery.
My sight is restored thanks to the treatment and the surgeons reckon the tumour is almost certainly benign.
"Superb service provided by superb staff"
