"Emergency Assessment Unit"

About: Colchester General Hospital

Staff were all professional and caring.

Main problem seemed to be with the time taken to get the results of blood tests.

Admittance at 5.15 pm weekday, sent from GP, but still waiting results for bloods to come back after 11.00pm

Given that the patient was ill, this made for an exhausting time.

The unit closed at 10.30pm so the patient was moved into another ward just along the corridor.

I would suggest that for everyone's wellbeing that if patients cannot be discharged by 10,00pm then they should be admitted.

Also the patient was sent home still with the same issue so its back to the GP tomorrow.

However will be avoiding the EAU.
