I had a lobectomy in this Autumn and was in F2. The nurses were super but horribly overstretched, so obtaining pain relief was sometimes a problem.

The doctors came irregularly but frequently, sometimes twice a day, and discussed my care with me. They were efficient and approachable.

The bay I was in was cleaned daily but I dropped a sock on the second day I was there, which rolled under my chair but was clearly visible. I couldn't bend down and pick it up, so I left it and I and the patient opposite watched it for 4 or 5 days. I moved every day, so that the cleaner could shift my chair and trolley to clean the floor. The cleaner did neither, but cleaned up to them with their wide mop. Nobody ever cleaned trolleys or their trays. A relief cleaner got the sock and I contracted a lung infection!

I was not a fan of mixed sex wards. The problem was sharing toilet/ shower facilities. On two occasions I burst in on male patients who had not locked the door!

I thought the food was very good and the general atmosphere excellent.

We are pleased that you found the care and treatment provided to be of a high quality and your comments will be forwarded to the appropriate Manager of F2 who will share them with the relevant staff.

Members of staff are always appreciative when a patient or relative takes the time to give such positive feedback.

Your comments regarding the standard of cleaning with be passed to our 3rd Party Provider - Sodexo - but will also be noted on our data base .

F2 does have patients of both sexes who are located within separate bays and the toilet and bathroom facilities are allocated accordingly.

We are advised that, as a general rule, signs, located on the front of the doors, indicate whether they are allocated as male or female facilities, but would like to offer our apologies if this was not the case during your inpatient stay.
