"The Chesterfield - Daycase surgery"

About: Nuffield Health, Bristol Hospital (Chesterfield)

I was very impressed with my Health MOT I had a week before my surgery, although I am generally healthy I was given practical advice to improve my overall healthscore.

On arrival at 7am on the day of my surgery I was greeted by the very polite receptionist and was taken to my room. My room was equivalent to a 5 star hotel, very clean and comfortable.

I was visited by the hostess with a menu to choose my meal following my surgery, they too were very friendly and polite.

I was then admitted by a very nice nurse who put me at ease and advised me that my operation would be at 8.30 and gave me my gown etc.

Both the consultant surgeon and anaesthetist visited me to gain my consent and to talk through the procedure which was very calming as I was "a bag of nerves".

I had previously meet my surgeon at consultation and they identified the problem with my arm immediately even though I had had scans, xrays, and blood tests via the NHS with no conclusion.

I cannot recommend them enough.

In due course I walked down to Theatre with my nurse and I cant remember much of the next few hours!

I cant really remember much in Recovery however once back in my room the Surgeon came to see me and said they were pleased with the outcome of my surgery.

The nurses constantly looked in and recorded their observations and I had my meal which was very nice and well presented.

Later in the early evening I was allowed to go home with ample medication and advice.

I also had two appointments one for physio and one for follow up with the Surgeon.

After a few days I also received a phone call from a nurse to ensure I was well and there were no problems.

I would like to thank all the staff for the quality of care I had during my stay and would not hesitate to recommend this hospital to everyone.

Dear Patient,

On behalf of the hospital I would like to thank you for this excellent feedback.

I am very pleased to read that your experience from admission to discharge met, and in some cases, exceeded expectations. In addition your feedback is extremely valuable in helping us determine how well the changes we have made to non-clinical care is having on our in-patients.

I look forward to sharing this feedback with each team that you have been in contact with. It is Nuffield Health’s aim to be the exemplar in all aspects of the patient journey through our hospitals and its feedback like this that helps reinforce this aim.

Lastly I would like to thank you for taking the time review your experience on the NHS choice website.

Kind regards,

Ben, Nuffield Health consumer care
