"quality of care"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

this review is on behalf of my son who has been too ill to comment, most of these things I mention I have seen. He was admitted for pain management and did not see a doctor for 2 days. Last time he was in the royal Blackburn hospital he contracted a nasty hospital acquired infection which meant he had to have a side room, which means that the staff should wear aprons, not once did I see any member of staff who came into his room wear an apron. He was originally told he could not have a shower then the staff changed their mind and the dirty towels where on the floor for 2 days. One member of the night staff would not come into his room and literally threw his medication to him from the door. This is unacceptable on any level. The standard of care he received was dreadful.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your son’s admissions to the Royal Blackburn Hospital and for taking the time to do so.

We are very sorry that you are unhappy with the care your son received whilst in hospital.

We are keen that your comments are fed back to the relevant departments.

We would be very grateful therefore if you could contact the Patient Experience Team to provide further details of the admissions.

We would also like to further understand the bits of your son’s admission that made this such a negative experience so that we can try to improve things for every patient visiting our hospitals and services.

You can either contact me (Melissa Almond) on 01254 734087 or email me on Melissa.almond@elht.nhs.uk

If you prefer you can discuss further any concerns you may have about our services with our East Lancashire Hospitals Trust Customer Relations team on 01254 733700 or complaints@elht.nhs.uk who can advise you of your options in raising these concerns further.
