"Chemotherapy patient's visit to A&E"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

On 7th July 2015 whilst undergoing chemotherapy I was admitted to R P H via a&e due to a high temp and other complications. The treatment care, respect and understanding I received in a&e from the nurses, doctors and consultants was second to none. They kept me informed of what was happening and were very reassuring. I was triaged immediately on arrival due to my infection vulnerability and was placed in a side room to reduce infection risk. I arrived approx 3.30pm and was moved to the assessment ward around midnight and then to the Cardiac Catheter ward at 2am.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us of your experience when you recently attended the Emergency Department. It was extremely pleasing to hear of the high standard of care you received from all staff. Please be assured that your kind comments have been shared with staff in the department.

We were however sorry to hear that you were moved from the department at 2am and offer our assurance that every effort is made not to move patients after 10pm unless it is for clinical reasons as we do appreciate how disruptive that can be to care.
