Five weeks from consultation with Donald Campbell at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee to surgery at Stracathro Hospital. On arrival I experienced some trepidation as the old building looked like the set of Dad's Army or Tenko; old fashioned & sad looking.
However once inside I was completely reassured by not only the welcoming staff but the cleanliness & modern fixtures. The immaculate wards, toilets & day room makes, what can be a stressful time, very bearable.
From auxiliary through to theatre staff, surgeons & anaesthesiologists, they were all without exception friendly, professional & focused on the patents. The wards were quiet with cool temperatures and family & carers were well provided for in the day room.
All staff discussed treatment, procedures and aftercare thoroughly & often with healthy doses of humour. I witnessed other's requests being followed up immediately & staff often picking up in care issues requiring attention prior to being asked. Overall, a pleasant hospital visit being looked after by dedicated nhs staff.
