What I liked Nothing what so ever. What could be improved? A complete change of senior managment and a new Board. Removal of most of the staff involved in my mums care. Mum was initially sent home from A & E, we had to bring mum back 2 days later, mum was then eventually admitted to a ward. Doctors then statrted to treat mum for infection when mum actually had Lymphoma, after 10 days of treating mum for infection these so called doctors then discover a leucoerythroblastic blood picture and now strongly susspect mum has lymphoma/leukemia/cancer, they hide this discovery from mum and us as a family and continue to mis treat for infection knowing strongly mum has cancer, and also knowing the treatment they are giving mum has no relevance in treating mums clinical profile and will do more harm than good. We strongly susspect they wanted to mis treat till death thus hiding the fact they were treating mum incorrectly for 10 days thus hiding their mistakes. It was due to family intervention that this mis teatment stopped, we demanded as recorded imediate action to help a dying family member, and due to our demands mum was moved to ICU but the damage had been done and mum died 3 days later. The trust conducted a complete and utter white wash of an investigation, how they think they will get away with it we do not know. Our complaint has now moved to the Healthcare Ombudsman thank God, and due to our serious concers in they way mum was treated at this so called Hospital we have had to 18 months after mums death call in the Coroner, the Coroner is in the process of investigationg what this Trust did to mum. We have also reported certain doctors to the GMC, the GMC is waiting for the cessation of Ombudsman and Coroner involvment before statrting any possible investigations. We have evidence to back up all of the above, and the above covers about half of the appalling care attributed towards mum. Anything else? When speaking about this hospital it should be called a National Death Service Trust hospital because that is what it has been for some patients. Do not just take our word for it, it was reported in the Daily Telegraph in March 09 that this hospital had the 2nd highest death rate in the country, it surprises us that it is not top of this league table. If you are unfurtunate enough to be sent to this hospital be very very careful as it could very well be the death of you, we strongly feel that what happened to mum is not an isolated incident, Good Luck.
