"a/e staff excellent."

About: Fairfield General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

a/e staff excellent.

What could be improved

both members of staff involved should have lessons in patient care, and try to improve their bedside manner.

Anything else?

I was refered to the ENT ward by my GP ,because i was having problems swallowing and feeling really unwell, i had a lump 2-3cm by 4cm in my throat, i was seen by the on call Doctor and a staff nurse who made me feel like i was a time waster, they didnt have a smile between them, they told me that i wasnt having a bed on that ward as i didnt need one and that i should have been on a respiratory ward, when i asked them to arrange this they just disregarded it, as a tax payer and also a nurse working for the nhs, i was totally disgusted , and after spending 10-20 mins on the ward not being listened to i decided enough was enough and walked out, this is totally out of character for me, but i was getting knowhere, i spent 2 nights at home with a raging temp and breathing difficulties, I NURSED MY SELF.and am due to see a consultant tomorrow.i am glad that my nursing skills are up to scratch and i can go home each night knowing that i have done my best with each patient and treated them like i would like to be treated, with dignity and respect. unlike the staff on ENT WARD FAIRFIELD, is it any wander with medical staff like this around, that the nhs gets such bad press, it makes me ashamed to be part of this service.
