"Orthopaedic and Trauma - Very impressed"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital

I had a referral to the orthopaedic and trauma department and my appointment was 9th November 2015. I was nervous as three weeks before this I had been referred to A&E at Stoke Mandeville where I was treated appallingly by an orthopaedic doctor. I will in due course write a complaint about my A&E visit as the doctor was disgraceful. However, my visit on 9th November couldn't have been more different. I arrived in pain and straight away a nurse sorted out checking in with the front desk and handling my paperwork. The nurse found me somewhere to lie down at the earliest possibility and checked I was ok and comfortable many times during my one and a half hour wait before helping me carry my belongings into the consultant's room. The long wait was unfortunate but because I was treated well I was satisfied. The consultant and another doctor were kind, thorough and courteous. They answered my questions and treated me with gentleness and respect. I am hopeful that I won't have to wait long for my MRI scan and that my good experience with Stoke Mandeville will continue thanks to your excellent staff.

Thank you for your comments.

It is lovely to read that you had felt that you had received good care from the nurse who greeted you and looked after you during your wait and to the consultant and doctor who treated you with gentleness and respect.

I am sorry to read of your previous experience in A&E which I can understand must have been distressing for you at an anxious time.
