"First class care and consideration"

Following a fall I was taken by A&E to another hospital when the treatment was brilliant, but that was not my local hospital.

It was unsure if I was going to need surgery or purely cast.

My local hospital spent 10 days and kept giving me different decisions about surgery, nor would they listen to by fear of hospitals and real phobia of needles.

In desparation I phoned other hospitals to see who could see me and the secretary of the orthopedic consultant arranged for me to see the consultant that afternoon and they were fabulous.

I saw them on a Monday afternoon, x-rays were done - my local hospital had not sent them through - and they immediately said surgery was required.

I was to be operated on by the consultant the next day.

The treatment on Martlesham ward was incredible, they were all aware of my phobia, no-one treated me as stupid and they all put me at ease.

When I have had concerns about the healing I have been able to see some-one, and hand therapy has been very good - despite staff changes due to staff leaving - I have had no complaints about anyone (plus they were unfazed when I started fainting).

My GP has now diagnosed osteoarthritis in both knees, and I have asked to be referred back despite it being twice the distance of my nearest hosptial.

I explained it was because of the poor treatment locally and brilliant and Ipswich.
