In a more litigious society like the USA you would be in danger of being sued .
My wife(Valerie) is undergoing a course of treatment for AMD and whilst the treatment and consultations have been carried out well there have been 3 instances giving concern.
1) after a number of injections there was a delay in arranging an appointment and on examination the condition had worsened and staff admitted that the delay should not have occurred 2) on the 25th September a consultation was held with the doctor who was pleased with progress and made notes in the file and also showed the scans taken on a screen .
The doctor decided to have 3 more injections performed at 4 week intervals and he was to carry out a consultation after the second.
The dates for these events were quickly and efficiently arranged and on the 30th Sept the first injection was performed .
On 4 Nov my wife arrived for the second injection but the practitioner refused to carry this out because her file could not be found .
It became apparent during the following confusion that the injection carried out on the 30th Sept was performed without reference to notes as the file was lost at that stage .
A delay is now taking place in the treatment which is totally unacceptable and as the appointments were planned to miss a short holiday arranged for 14-21st Nov the delay could be substantial and the effects negative to say the least.
All of this in a computer driven age!!!
