"Horrible place!"

About: South Tyneside District Hospital

Im 20 weeks pregnant and had a previous miscarriage beforehand hence my concern when i ring the department explaining i have been up all night with bright red blood, cramps, and back pain that is progressivly getting worse,i got told to bring in pad with blood on etc i waited 3 hours on ward 22 i was never asked to show pad on arrival, they listened for heartbeat which was fine i then got told my cervix would be checked i waited and waited for the doctor to come in room and say u can go! Erm excuse me this does not clear up my concern as to why im bleeding bright red blood,i asked why and they said i dont know go home while their beeper was bleeping, blantly had no time or interest in why or in any way to comfort me with this sensitive matter,i was left to go home still bleeding with alot of questions still worried which is now going to be another long night of stress and worry thanks to the appaling manner in which the staff dealt with the situation, stress is not good for baby or myself,im very upset and no further forward in finding out why im bleeding or the cause, the answer i got was well you just are! Great sitting all day to hear that i would nor recommend this hospital and i myself am worryed to evan go back evan though im still bleeding! I hope to god my cervix is not opening but then again how would i know with no reasurrance whatso ever!

Thank you for taking the time to post on NHS Choices your recent experience of our Maternity Services.

I am sorry to learn that your experience was not of our usual high standard which we always try to deliver.

I apologise for the manner in which you were spoken to and the perceived lack of understanding about your condition.

I will forward your comments to the respective manager in order that they can be discussed with staff to ensure they are able to reflect on your experience and learn for future episodes of care.

Kind regards

Steve Williamson

Chief Executive
