"A and E"

About: Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road Campus)

The A and E was so horrible! One doctor on duty and there's wasn't even that much of a wait and I was screaming in agony but I ended up being seen last and waiting for three hours in severe pain as it was not as "urgent" as they thought it was (examination by one nurse that thought I only had an irritation when I clearly said I feel it's a corneal ulcer). According to them people with certain age get to be seen first so people my age could just bite on a towel and shut up until further notice. I was very disappointed that I wasn't seen quicker and I don't know why corneal ulcer which can risk my eyesight was not considered "as urgent"

Despite all of that the nurse that finally saw me was very friendly and nice.

Next time I believe it's easier to go private if you are in severe pain as you will have to wait a lot!

I'm sorry to hear about this, and it does sound as though there might be issues around the triage process in your case. I have forwarded your comments on to the A&E team and we would be happy to look into the specifics of your care and treatment, though to do so it would be helpful to have a few more details. If you would like us to do so, please contact our patient advice and liaison service (PALS) via pals@moorfields.nhs.uk who will be able to help you in this.
