"Thank you"

Our son has global delay and epilepsy. We are regulars with paediatrics now and have been to the children's ward a few times this year, most recently this week. I'm so grateful for everyone's help and the staff being friendly, from the doctors and nurses to catering and cleaning staff. It makes such a difference when you're feeling anxious and worrying about the most important people in your life. You really need friendly faces.

I can't fault the care we've received. My son was moved to a room when he found it difficult to sleep with the noises around him and for that I'm also very grateful. He's non verbal and has sensory issues and it's impossible to explain to a 4 year old with learning difficulties what is happening.

I'm sure there is nothing that can be done, as it's not a children's hospital, but my only real concern when we have to stay overnight is the beds. He is too big for a cot and he has no sense of danger or spacial awareness. So in a bed, although there are sides, if he wakes up he stands up and could easily fall. We overcame this by him sleeping on the fold out bed and my other half sleeping in the hospital bed. The joys of having a disabled child - there is never quite the right fit facilities anywhere unfortunately.
