"Don't know how much to expect from my carers"

About: Independent Living Services - ILS South & East Ayrshires

(as a service user),

I’m very happy with my carers. The company changed this year to ILS but the girls are the same, it hasn’t made any difference to my care.

All the girls are good, we’re all on first name terms. I get a good service, they come four times every day.

The only thing is I don’t know how much to expect from them. Can I ask them to make something to eat at lunchtime? Can they use the cooker? Are there restrictions on what they can do?

I’m a bit worried about cleaning my windows on the inside. I used to be able to do it but now I can’t manage, I can’t reach up that high, I’m scared of falling. Is this something the carers can help me with?

Dear Gibs11

Thank you for your response.

You should have a care plan in place, this is a written document provided by ILS which sets out the type of service you should receive on a daily basis. I would be happy to visit you and explain what you should expect from the carers.

East Ayrshire also contract with another company who undertake low level maintenance jobs within peoples' homes and I would be happy to explore if you are eligible for this service.

I would be grateful if you could contact me on 01563-503339.

Many Thanks
