"Visit to A&E"

About: Leighton Hospital

I had a throat problem last Sunday afternoon. I called NHS 111 who advised me to visit my local A&E. (incorrectly I think)

I must admit my family were dubious about how long I would be gone as we hear such horror stories about overloaded A&E departments.

When I arrived there were a number of sports injury patients waiting round but the Reception staff were great and assured me I was not wasting their time. I had a 20 minute wait and then saw on the on call GP, who confirmed there was not a problem and all was well.

All in all the place was immaculately maintained, the staff brilliant and the wait of 20 minutes totally acceptable.

My dealings with Leighton hospital over the years (birth of my son, ex wife going through Chemotherapy and the odd visit to A&E) have always been excellent.
