"rude secretary and lost referral"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

when I first had a fast track referral it was lost by the hospital and I had to ask my GP to send it again. I then had a biopsy and was told in a letter a nurse would ring me with the results. I was not happy to have my results given to me over the phone by a nurse and so I phoned my consultant s secretary. I was very upset when I phoned, the secretary raised their voice to me and was quite rude, when I expressed I did not like their tone of voice or the way they were talking to me they said " I don't like the way your talking to me" and hung up. This is absolutely disgusting when you are dealing with someone who has already had cancer and is waiting to find out if it has come back

I'm so sorry to hear about this, especially when you must have been quite anxious about your results and the lost referral.

Please would you contact PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) with more details and we will look into this.

You can contact PALS by phone on 01227 783145 or 01227 864314 (please leave a message if you get the answerphone), by email on ekh-tr.PALS@nhs.net or by filling in a form which you will find by clicking on one of the four 'C's' on the front page of our website: www.ekhuft.nhs.uk
