My 20 month old daughter was admitted to the children's ward on the 30th October 2015 after a high temperature and refusing to eat or drink. My daughter was extremely unhappy about being poorly and was very upset. The nursing staff were absolutely brilliant with her. They didn't push her when she refused to have her observations done and was closely monitored. The paediatricians were also really good with her. My daughter is not a fan of males who she doesn't know and the doctor obviously made her feel at ease as she let him adjust her canula without putting up a fight.
All the staff referred to my daughter by her name rather than just being a patient, even those not involved directly with her care. The night and morning staff that took over knew exactly what was happening with her and didn't need to refer to notes etc. it was clear they showed an interest in their patients.
The playroom is a fantastic idea, going in there distracted her from feeling unwell and the playroom worker was very friendly and made sure that there was toys out that she likes to play with.
We can't thank the staff enough for the care they showed, it's clear that the staff involved in her care love the job that they do.
If for any reason, we had to return to the ward, I would be extremely confident that my daughter would recieve the best care from all members of staff on the ward. Thanks again.
