"kidney stones"

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

went in to frimley park hospital on Sunday at 11.30am as in total agony from Friday onwards. seen after 3 hours which I did not mind as very busy. doctor in a+e was good and eased my pain and completed tests. I was informed I had a kidney stone in the tube and moved to a ward ready for an operation. Put on nil by mouth. Seen by surgeon at midnight which again fine as the guys had been in a+e.. Moved to short stay surgical ward at around midnight. Woken up at 2am to say I needed a scan ( had already had one earlier) the porter then informed staff I was too young to be the patient and informed they had made a mistake. In the morning no record of my medication even though the surgeon had taken my meds away to record them which i am sure they did. At 12 mid day a Dr came to see me and said they were not operating I could go home and wait a month in agony ( did give me pain relief) to see if the stone could pass out on its own. The stone is 7mm so informed this was very unlikely. tried to talk to the consultant but had gone in seconds and it was not a discussion but more dictator. Saw another team member of their team who took more time with me although the outcome was the same go home in pain. I was then discharged and when home found out I had not been given all my pain relief medication. Phoned ward and told nothing could be done until I said about complaining then drugs could be ordered I am currently waiting for call to say they are ready. I am normally full of praise for the nhs but on this occasion I feel I have been treated in an appalling manor. The operation was not done for money or operating time and it is not in my best interest to be left in pain at best or agony at worst for a month. It also makes me concerned when I go in in a month for the operation that should have been done already.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback on your recent visit.

I am sorry that not all of it was a positive one.

I would really like to be able to have more details so we can look into this for you further, not only to understand why the doctors decided not to operate at the weekend but to feed back to the relevant staff regarding your positive comments and where we can improve.

I would be very grateful if you could contact our PALs team on palsfrimleypark@fhft.nhs.uk with more information.

Thank you for getting in touch

Kind Regards
