"Seacole Ward October Community Meeting"

About: Forensic mental health / Low secure services

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

In October the patients on Seacole Ward at The Wells Road Centre were asked about how their experience of the ward could be improved. The following suggestions were made:

1. There are currently too many members of male staff currently on the night shift and we would feel more comfortable if there could be a greater ratio of female staff.

2. The TV lounge is going to be re-decorated to become more of a relaxing area. We would like to have a say on the what colour the walls will be and the seating we would also like new sensory equipment.

3. We would like to change our sitting at meal times as we always go last.

Dear All,

In relation to this there have been a number of new staff starting on the ward who are predominately male. In light of your views the electronic ‘Health roster’ demand has been changed for only one male to be allocated on nights at a time. We have now approached you all for your views and ideas on the lounge area which we have used to purchase new items. You’ll be pleased to know the new sofa is on order and will arrive soon. We have agreed to rotate the meal times. You will be going first sitting by next week,

Thanks

Helen
