What could be improved
More interaction with patients. The purpose of my father in law's stay was rehabilitation. Sitting around with a TV on could have been done at home in better more familiar surroundings. He has been @ Walkergate for a week without being assessed. I suggest that a manager from the New Primary Care Trust building next door pays a spot visit. My husband was in tears after seeing his father looking very confused & bewildered in such depressing surroundings. During his visit another patient was helped back from the day room to his ward. Shortly afterwards the same gentleman asked to visit the bathroom and one of the staff mutered"he could have asked before we brought him back"
Please urgently look at Walkergate and ask yourselves if you would like to be "cared for" there.
Anything else?
The ground is uneven in the outside sitting courtyard. Many, if not all, of the patients would have difficulty practising walking in this area without falling.
"nothing"
