"Breast Clinic - Treatment Centre"

About: Kettering General Hospital

After a worrying couple of weeks I arrived at the breast clinic in the treatment centre the only problem was the car park was closed so I had to drive around to main car park and walk through the hospital.

I didn't really need this extra stress of panicking that I was going to be late for my appointment.

I arrived at reception and waited approx. 10 mins and then I was called in by someone who was lovely and put me at ease.

I was then seen by the most conscientious and friendly doctor I have ever seen on the NHS, who was amazing.

They spoke to me as if they had all the time in the world and rather than the usual rush that normally happens when I see a specialist. The consultant had even read my notes and that has never happened to me before.

I normally have to tell doctors my medical history. I only have one negative and that was the ultrasound it was extremely rushed I must have been on the table no longer than 1 minute and this is the only point I felt like I was on a conveyer belt with no real explanation except a quick it's a cyst it will disappear on its own, you can now dress and leave.

I was like ok thanks and out the door! I really should have took the consultant up on their offer of if I had any questions at the end of investigations then to just ask to see them again after the tests as in their words "I am only along the corridor".

Sadly I did not and now am left with a few questions which really should have been answered by the ultra sound technician. Overall thumbs up to all nurses and consultant.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on your recent experience of our Breast Service. I am very pleased that you felt your initial consultation was good and that you felt supported by the clinic staff. However, I am concerned that you have been discharged from the clinic with several unanswered questions. If you wish to, please make contact with our PALS team via telephone on 01536 493305 who will be able to connect your call to me directly. We can then discuss your concerns in more detail and if necessary arrange for you to be seen again in clinic.
