About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

i have been an hearing aid user for over 10 years at this hospital and have always found the dept ready and able to deal with requests. Recently one of my hearing aids stopped working, so took it in for repair and was told it was now obsolete so would need a re-assessment test........wait 3 weeks. Went for the test, was then told they would make another appointment for fitting and programming.......5 weeks.

I will have been without my hearing aid for a total of 3 months.,this is devastating to me as cant hear without them. Its bad enough for new patients but to be told and treated as new patient as no difference for existing patients is terrible. I wish I could go somewhere else for this but I have no option.

Never before has this happened even when my hearing aids were broken and obsolete before, they just programmed the new ones from the exisitng .

I'm really sorry to learn about these delays.

Please will you contact PALS and we will see what we can do to speed things up.

As you say, it must be devastating to be without your hearing aid for such a long time.

PALS stands for Patient Advice and Liaison Service.

While you can telephone them, you can also contact them by email at ekh-tr.PALS@nhs.net or by completing a form accessed by clicking one of the 4 'C's' on the front page of our website - www.ekhuft.nhs.uk

I hope we can sort this out as soon as possible.
